🎣 A dusk angling session and a tench on the last cast
After a couple of visits to the tench lake, I switched to a different venue, method and approach.
The only common denominator was that I fished with sweetcorn.
Going for a couple of dusk hours on a pool, I flicked the float a couple of rod-lengths from the bank in six-feet of water and fished over brown crumb and corn.
I caught lots of roach and a couple of roach-rudd hybrids.
I didn’t show all of them in the video, there were so many. A nice ‘problem’ to have.
Then, right at the end – last cast to be precise – I banked a tench.
Tackle: Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line. Drennan waggler 1.2g. Drennan Super Specialist size 10 hook.
Nature notes: Two song thrushes in the immediate area, both singing. A pair of adult coots with two young. Female mallard with four well-developed young. Certainly past the stage where the small pike on this venue will take them. Two kingfisher sightings. Grey heron landed on the far bank late dusk, then saw me and flew away.
