Lure fishing for perch to start the working week, a woodland walk and talking angling on the radio
Although the heatwave is officially over, it’s still warm. In fact, I would describe it as very pleasant, and that’s how it felt this morning, when I made my way to a lake to go fishing.
I’m enjoying my current lure angling for perch sessions, and it was more of the same today as well, as I began the working week on the bank.
It was just a short visit but very enjoyable.
Tackle: Greys G Lite 6’ Spin (4-8 lb), Fox Rage Ultron 2500 reel, 18lb Sufix 832 low vis green braid on reel. Drennan Double Strength 10lb (3m) joined to the braid with a small swivel. Micro jig head 0.7g, size 6 hook. Small rubber creature / fish. All knots (3) blood knots.
Nature notes: Four swifts over the lake. Three cormorants passed through. Great crested grebe diving. Juvenile moorhen on lily pads.
When I arrived home, and before having a shower, I went for a walk in local woodland with my binoculars.
I am always extolling the virtues of the great outdoors. Ever since I was a child, I’ve been drawn to the countryside.
Nothing against built-up areas. I like to visit but I wouldn’t want to live there.
Then it was time for my weekly Bayside Radio angling chat, with footage from that in the video.
Having done a number of lure sessions on the bounce, that featured in the conversation.
Based in Colwyn Bay, the show goes out on Thursday afternoons.
