Lure fishing for perch on the final day of the heatwave, followed by a walk in the Garden of Eden
With air temperature again over the threshold figure, the heatwave continues.
However, the good news – for some at least – is that today is the peak, and it’s all downhill from tomorrow. Certainly as far as the temperature is concerned anyway.
I started the day in the same way that I did yesterday, as once again I went mini-jigging for perch on a lake.
You can follow the session via the video, however ‘short but very sweet indeed’, sums it up perfectly.
Although I didn’t catch anything big, it was all great fun. And that, as always, is the most important thing.
Tackle: Greys G Lite 6’ Spin (4-8 lb), Fox Rage Ultron 2500 reel, 18lb Sufix 832 low vis green braid on reel. Drennan Double Strength 10lb (3m) joined to the braid with a small swivel. Micro jig head 0.7g, size 6 hook. Small rubber creature / fish. All knots (3) blood knots.
Nature notes: Swifts c.5 over the lake. Black-headed gulls c.40 squabbling over something on the surface. Juvenile moorhen on lily pads.
After my angling session and while still in my fishing clothes, I cleaned the car and trimmed a few weeds from the lawns at home.
I then went for a lovely walk in local woodland. No matter how bright the sun is, the canopy of leaves always acts as a barrier.
It was very pleasant indeed and felt like heaven on earth. The Garden of Eden on my doorstep.
