🎣 Fishing the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal, Roadworks, Environmental vandalism and In angling conversation with Rob from Dudley
The great thing about being a solo angler is that you can go with your own flow. Hence, as I fancied a session on the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal, that’s exactly what I did. Plus, if I changed my mind on the way there and went somewhere else, I could have done that.
I didn’t though, although it took me a lot longer to get to my chosen stretch, due to roadworks. They’ve been there for a week or more now and drivers have become wised-up. So much so, that the surrounding lanes and B roads have become more congested than the digging delays.
Once at the stretch, I was disappointed to find that the environmental vandals have been there since my last visit. The ‘scorched earth policy’ on the far bank was noticeable. It was also unnecessary as well. I understand when trees that are taking up boat space over the canal need to be pruned but this was rather excessive.
Anyway, regardless of anything that happens, the fishing show always rolls on. As with yesterday’s small pool session, I continued with maggot beneath a waggler. I often say that I’m just on the right side of the line and that was the case today as well.
