🎣 Fishing the River Severn in Shropshire, a new species for the year and dressing for the occasion
With the Severn level looking decent on the government’s Check For Flooding website, I decided to fish the river just outside Bridgnorth, in Shropshire. I was downstream of the town itself and, for anyone who knows the area, you can see exactly where I am from the footage.
I don’t automatically promote sections or swims but, at the same time, I don’t edit videos to remove landmarks or easily identifiable spots. Neither do I fish with a bag on my head, just in case someone recognises me. I work on the basis that if you know, you know.
The section I fished on the Severn is a new one for me and, with the main river racing through, I looked for a slack area. Casting this side of the crease, I was able to fish comfortably. It was a short session, but I had a few bites, and caught several dace and a solitary roach.
The video covers the tackle used, with the rod being a Fox Barbel Specialist, the reel an Okuma Zeon and the line 6lb Maxima Chameleon. Although just 6C, it felt quite warm. Certainly compared to the harsh start to the year that we had, it was!
