🎣 Fishing a pond, Personal competitiveness, First perch of the year, Improvisation
After yesterday’s blank on a pond, I wanted to return so that I could ‘right the wrong’, so to speak. Often when I’ve struggled on a venue, rather than move elsewhere for the next session, I want to get back so that I can turn things around.
I’m very competitive and strive for success, but only against myself. I’m not interested in beating the angler in the next peg or having the bragging rights on the internet. It’s purely personal. I want to be the best that I can.
The video is captured as a YouTube short portrait, rather than the longer mini-documentary landscape style. Less talking and shorter clips but the fish are included, which ultimately is what it’s all about.
I was in the same spot and using the same tactics and approach as the previous session, so there’s no need to repeat myself. It’s all in there, if you’re interested.
The one difference is that I caught this time with roach and perch – my first stripey of the year – on the bank. The latter means that I’m now up to five species for the month.
At some point during last week – it was either on the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal at Swindon or the reservoir – my iPhone recording equipment escaped through a hole in my tripod bag.
I didn’t bother returning, even if it was still on the ground, which was highly unlikely anyway, because the time and cost wasn’t worth it. I have ordered a new tripod attachment plate though, as I already have the top section that grips the phone.
It should have arrived yesterday but they changed it to today. Hence, the improvisation in the video. It might not look professional but it doesn’t affect the recording. The footage is as good as if I used the most expensive tripod in the world.
