🎣 Back fishing on the reservoir and I caught this time round
In my last blog post, in the video I mentioned that the session, on the River Severn, was a short one. The reason for that was because I wanted to move on and fish another venue. The reservoir where I recently blanked. Put the wrong right and all that.
Time is obviously much tighter in winter for day fishing but I still managed more than three hours up to dark. It was nowhere near as cold as the previous visit but, as we know, it’s all about water temperature and not us and our comforts.
The noticeable difference from my last trip was that the water level was up considerably. No fishing on the rocks this time, as I was perched on the grass bank. There were also thousands of feathers on the water and several dead lesser black-backed gulls floating on the surface.
All the gulls had died on the surface and their heads had dropped in the water, as their life ebbed away from them. It looked very much like bird flu to me, so when I arrived home, I sent a video and reported it to the club secretary.
At the time of writing, I haven’t heard anything from him yet. Not sure what they’ll do with the information, especially regarding fishing, but it’s always important to pass on anything like this if you come across it.
You can follow the session via the video, where I mention bream, roach and perch. Come the final whistle, I caught two of those. Hardly specimen size but at least I caught more than my recent visit there.
