🎣 Pursing pool perch presenting prawn
Although I didn’t catch any fish, nevertheless I enjoyed this morning’s session after tench very much indeed
It was always my plan, anyway, to get back out at the opposite end of the day and, pursuing perch with prawn on a pool, that’s exactly what I did.
With light rain showers from time to time, that was good news as far as I was concerned, because it tends to keep people in general from venturing into the great outdoors.
Warm, dry weather is great, but it also brings dogs into the swim and, especially when you are fishing a small shallow venue, people passing by, although well-intentioned, can have a negative effect upon the fishing when they come and chat with you.
Fishing one rod length from the bank, in two feet of water, I presented a prawn over loose prawns and mixed maggots.
I’ve had the same problem on this particular venue previously – a pike in the swim.
I touch it with the rod tip, it disappears quickly but then, thirty seconds later, it’s back again.
Repeat.
It was an achievement just to catch something under the circumstances, but I did.
