🎣 Back home and out fishing but not straight away

I arrived home from Moldova late afternoon and, with some post-match media to complete, plus my Bayside Radio chat with Jeff Pearson – not to forget the most important thing, which was to spend time with my wife and granddaughter – I didn’t go fishing yesterday.

Plus, after a day of travelling, following just three hours sleep the night before, I also caught up on that as well.

I often communicate in my blog posts the difference between a passion and an obsession, and it’s a very important principle for all of us to grasp, understand and live out.

This morning though, I was up nice and early, and off to a lake in pursuit of tench.

I had the venue to myself and, combined with the fact that I didn’t see any feeding bubbles at all, that told me that it was going to be a tough session.

I fished a grain of corn over sweetcorn and brown crumb at twenty metres and it was indeed slow.

Stationary, I think, would be the appropriate word.

Tackle: Fox Barbel Special 1.5 test curve rod and an Okuma Zeon reel. 6lb Maxima Chameleon, with a six-inch hook-length created by a small shot and 8mm bead. Above that was a 1/2 ounce lead. Size 10 Drennan Super Specialist hook.

Nature notes: Lesser black-backed gull circled the lake before moving on. Four swifts feeding over the lake.
