🎣 An enjoyable canal angling session
I have enjoyed my two previous visits to the Staffs/Worcs Canal this week very much indeed.
Another 4.30 a.m. rising, I was fishing at first light for the third.
I fished the boat channel over brown crumb and mixed maggots, with three reds on the hook.
After a couple of bream that parted company with the hook, although it appeared to be sharp, I changed it anyway.
Fine margins.
It worked and I went on to catch both bream and perch.
I’m very impressed with my wife’s handmade floats.
Would you like one? Check out the video for more details.
Tackle: Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line. Debby’s float 2x BB. Drennan Super Specialist size 12 hook.
Nature notes: Apart from mallards, which are more mobile, the stretch is devoid of other water birds. You normally see resident moorhens, for example, on the canal. I know that there is an American mink den in that immediate area, which no doubt is behind it.
