🎣 An interesting encounter on the road, fishing the canal and talking about it on radio
Another day and another early morning start on the Staffs/Worcs Canal, but before I even got there, I had an interesting encounter on the road, as you can see at the start of the video.
Fishing over mixed maggots and brown crumb in the boat channel, the first fish on the bank was a roach.
Then, right at the end, I caught a bream.
Although it was slow, in terms of fish on the bank, I did have lots of small roach interest but was more than happy to set my stall out that if I caught something bigger, at least I had a better chance of landing it.
Once home I did my weekly fishing and Welsh football chats with Jeff Pearson for his Bayside Radio afternoon show.
Tackle: Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line. Debby’s float 2x BB. Drennan Super Specialist size 12 hook.
Nature notes: A common frog croaking from within overhanging vegetation on the far bank. I can’t even remember hearing them ever on the canal but this is the second time I have this spring, in two different locations as well.
