🎣 Canal bream by design

Following on from yesterday’s session on the Staffs/Worcs Canal, it wasn’t a difficult choice to return this morning.

I was up at 4.30 a.m. and then on my way for an early start.

After the encounter with the bream, that was my target today.

The approach wasn’t that different from targeting perch, but mostly it’s a mind thing, where I always find that I fish better when I’m focused.

With four bream on the bank – and one hook-pull – it was an excellent session. Plus, I had a tiny perch.

It was a short session as well because by 7.00 a.m. the bream had stopped feeding completely.

I fished the boat channel in five feet of water.

Tackle: Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line. Debby’s float 2x BB. Drennan Super Specialist size 14/12 hook.

Nature notes: Dead polecat on the road, while driving home. Sad to see, but it means they’re less than five miles from where I live.
