🎣 Fishing in the snow but still catching in spite of the conditions
With overnight snow, the initial challenge was getting off the drive first thing this morning.
Living on the slope of a valley, it’s always a challenge but, after a few wheel spins, I was on the open road.
Due to the conditions, I parked further away from my usual spot on the small pool, preferring to be on solid ground rather than a grass verge.
I knew that it was going to be a tough session and that proved to be the case.
After a couple of sucked maggots though, I eventually caught a small roach.
In the freezing cold conditions, what a result.
Although just small fish, I would say that the start to the year of six sessions and no blanks, is one of my best ever in that context.
I fished three rod-lengths out, in five feet of open water, over brown crumb and red/white maggots, with one/two white/red maggots on the hook, flicking the bait beneath overhanging trees.
