🎣 Storm fishing for roach

It was very windy this morning and I wasn’t sure whether it was the tail end of storm Isha, the beginning of Jocelyn or maybe just breezy weather in between the two.

Either way, and always put safety first, I went fishing.

I headed for a pool that I know is sheltered enough, especially when you take the wind direction into account.

In fact, there was hardly a ripple on the surface.

I fished with a grain of sweetcorn, over loose corn, in five feet of water less than one rod length from the bank.

The fish were very obliging and wherever I’ve been this year, corn has generally seen better quality roach compared to 2023 when I went for maggots.
