❄️ Blogging in February 2025

🎣 Starting the day roach fishing on a small pool

Although not necessarily any warmer, nevertheless the days are getting longer.

My morning angling sessions are now getting underway much earlier than they were in the middle of December.

That’s how I got today off the mark, fishing a small pool that is usually very kind to me.

Even in the most adverse of conditions, I usually catch a few roach.

However, of late it had become a real challenge.

That was the case on this session as well, with a motionless float the main talking point.

It was a short trip of two hours and there was no sign of piscatorial life at all on the pool.

Bait was two red/white maggots over brown crumb and maggots.

Hopefully, your February fishing is on track.

Tackle: Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line. Drennan 1.2g float. Drennan Super Specialist size 16 hook.

Nature notes: A pair of coots have been on the pool for a few weeks, in advance of the nesting season. Cormorant in flight. Goldcrest in tree next to where I fished.
