🐝 Busy as a bee but always with a purpose
After this morning’s angling session and while my wife was at the craft class in our local Anglican church, I went for a walk in woodland with my dog.
He gets so much pleasure from being off the lead and doing his thing, plus I get to do some birdwatching as well.
I’m still chasing a few common birds this year and I added a goldcrest to my list, with a single bird flitting around in ivy-covered trees just off the lane.
Once home I went straight in the garden and, after some general tidying, I cleared the encroaching turf from around the paving stones.
It’s very noticeable how big the stones look once the grass is cut back.
I also used the strips of turf to plant around the feeding station, where the birds have reduced the grass to dirt over the winter months.
I shouldn’t complain – and I’m not – because it’s a sign of the large numbers of birds we get in the garden.
Talking of which, we had a lesser spotted woodpecker briefly visiting today.
After tidying my bait freezer I went to play football.
It was my first game with the club and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I’ve been playing on Wednesdays, but it’s been very irregular, and I wanted something on a weekly basis.
It was my first game of the year and I did feel it afterwards but nicely so.
Although we lost 3-1, I was reasonably happy with my performance, especially as I was very rusty.
After retiring from work at the end of last year, I have mentioned in my blog about doing something casual and occasional.
Well, today that happened, and I’m ‘booked’ for an hour or so on Monday.
Busy as a bee but always with a purpose.
