🎣 Dydd Santes Dwynwen Hapus, let’s go fishing
Happy St. Valentine’s Day, let’s go fishing. Would the love be reciprocated as far as the fish were concerned though, I asked myself, as I loaded the car.
The small pool, which is normally a banker venue for roach, has been extremely tough in the last few trips that I’ve made.
There’s only one way to find out whether the corner has been turned though, isn’t there?
Go and fish it.
Bait was two red/white maggots over brown crumb and maggots.
I fished towards overhanging branches but in three hours I wasn’t feeling any love from the fish at all.
Not even a flicker on the float.
Tackle: Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line. Drennan 1.2g float. Drennan Super Specialist size 16 hook.
Nature notes: Song thrush feeding on grass where I parked my car, later singing. Pair of Canada geese on the pool, a sign that birds are moving around as we head towards nesting time. Two noisy ring-necked parakeets. Raven calling in flight. Pair of moorhens around a freshly-built nest.
