After the storm passes, a pond angling session

Footage from the water’s edge.

It’s been great to have our daughters and grandchildren staying with us for a couple of days.

The fishing show rolls on though, albeit just an hour at first light this morning.

It’s often the case though anyway, regardless of other ingredients in the mix.

I do get out most days but the thought of fishing every day and all day long isn’t something that appeals to me personally.

Having a busy, but balanced, lifestyle is where I’m at.

It also worked out well, after storm Gerrit had passed, ensuring everything was much calmer.

Today’s session was on a pond, which with recent heavy rain had a nice tinge but wasn’t too murky like some of the venues I know.

The water is between two and three feet deep and is perfect for flicking a small float a rod length of so from the bank.

It’s also very quiet and that most definitely ticks a box as far as I’m concerned.

The staple diet of this type of venue, I caught small roach, with the best about 4oz.

I loose fed mixed maggots, tricking them in on a regular basis, in accordance with the fish activity as indicated by the float.

Tackle: Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line. Drennan 0.6g waggler. Drennan Super Specialist size 14 hook.

Nature notes: A cormorant briefly landed on the pond before flying off once it spotted me.
