On the way to work and a Montgomery Canal session
My midweek working day at Park Hall comes round so quickly and it was time again to head to the home of The New Saints.
I also took some fishing tackle with me, and with the Severn again out of sorts, the Montgomery Canal it was once more where I cast a line.
After a couple of blanks previously on the venue, I switched to a different spot on the last outing and caught well.
This time, I went back to the place where I didn’t even get a bite.
I like a challenge, and when it comes off, it’s always rewarding.
That was the case this time as well, as I avoided a trio of consecutive blanks.
I fished the boat channel next to a bridge.
The shot was either side of the float, apart from a size 8 about four inches from the hook.
I fished two white maggots over brown crumb and mixed maggots.
I caught consistently throughout the couple of hours that I was there, with lots of roach and a single perch, and was pleased with the session.
Then it was off to the day job.
Tackle: Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line. Drennan 0.6g waggler. Drennan Super Specialist size 14 hook.
Nature notes: Two cormorants feeding on the canal.
Hi Stewart, I work in Aldridge and have seen and heard Ring neck parakeets regularly over the last few weeks, Also saw a flock of about 10 flying over near Walsall Arboretum (heard them first) very vocal birds. Seems they are becoming quite common now. Merry Christmas to you and yours Stewart.. Jim.
Hello, Jim.
They’re definitely becoming more abundant in the wider area.
I know the Express & Star did a feature recently with lots of reports in there.
Merry Christmas to you and your family. Have a great time.
Merry Xmas Stewart & family, hope to see more videos in 2024.🎄🎅🐟
Many thanks for the kind words and a merry Christmas to you as well.
Nice hotel there Stewart, even though it resembles a maze inside, don’t know if I’d find my way out of there he he. And right by the marina too, lovely view, shame you can’t fish there, enjoy 😁 x
Hello, Debby!
It’s great, it’s one of those places where I think to myself, I’d love to bring my wife here.
I slept with the curtains open, what a lovely sight to wake up to.
P.S. I found the flotels on my walk. Perfect fishing from the deck.
Get your bags packed.
Sound like a fishermans dream he he
Or a non-fishing wife’s nightmare!
See you later tonight, I’m ten minutes away from Haverfordwest then it’s all focused for a few hours!
