Starting the day pond fishing in sub-zero conditions

With the cold spell (sub-zero temperatures overnight) continuing, I once again headed for the pond that I’ve fished in recent sessions. It usually produces even in the harshest of conditions, however, on this occasion, I blanked. I did have a nibble though, that resulted in the two red maggots ending up as skins.

I fished with my standard set-up for this type of fishing: Greys TX float rod, Shimano 3500 reel, Maxima Chameleon 4lb line, Drennan 1.2g crystal waggler and size 16 Drennan Super Specialist hook. I trickled a few maggots in on a fairly regular basis and fished in four-feet of water.
