The first back-to-back overnight frosts of the autumn but still out fishing at first-light, irresponsible drivers, visiting Sedgley

With another sharp drop in air temperature, I was prepared on this occasion, as I placed a fleece over the car windshield yesterday evening. Therefore, there was no scraping of ice this morning. I opened both front windows of the car, as I made my way to a small pond. Never mind comfort, safety (visibility) is the issue.

As far as the fishing was concerned, naturally it was slow. However, it wasn’t static, and I did catch a handful of small roach in the couple of hours that I was there. The perch put in a no-show, which didn’t surprise me. As always, you can follow the session via the video.

However, on the subject of staying safe, as I referred to just now, there were still motorists on the road who were behaving like it was the height of summer and the conditions were perfect. Although the temperature was sub-zero, you still get drivers who appear from nowhere and get so close that it’s like they’re on the backseat

Funnily enough, I had said to my wife just yesterday evening that, I don’t know how I will eventually depart this planet, but if it’s in a car crash then it certainly won’t be because I’m the one driving irresponsibly. That’s the tragedy, isn’t it. They not only kill themselves, by their irresponsible actions, but also innocent people as well.

Once home, and after taking our dog for a walk in the immediate area, we went to Sedgley. I spent more than half a century living in the village (or small town as it is now) and it was always home. Whenever I go back though, I don’t feel any emotional attachment. I do though for where we are now. Home is where the heart is. That’s a fact.
