🎣 🐑 No fish in the net but sheep in the valley
It’s hardly surprising is it, that British people talk a lot about the weather, which usually means morning and groaning for many.
Just this year so far I’ve experienced dry weather, torrential rain, sunshine, overcast conditions, 50 mph gusts and no wind at all.
This morning, I was scraping ice from the car before I could set off for a fishing trip.
I’m still on jury service call, so that has a bearing on flexibility at the moment.
To use a football analogy, I’m not on the pitch but I am on the bench, and for ten working days I have to be available.
The pool I visited, like so many at present, bears the aftermath of Storm Henk in the form of extremely coloured water.
It didn’t look promising, but as long as your bait’s in the water and all that.
Fishing into water that was six feet deep, I cast out a grain of corn over brown crumb and corn, tightened to the lead and waited.
It was very slow indeed.
I blanked.
Tackle: Fox Barbel Special rod. Okuma Zeon reel. Maxima Chameleon 6lb line. 1/8 ounce lead. Small shot and bead to create a 6 inch hook length. Drennan Super Specialist size 10 hook.
Nature notes: Raven calling in flight.
I received my daily text from the authorities and not required for jury service meant that I went birding in the valley where I live.
I added three new species for the year: great white egret, lesser black-backed gull and nuthatch.
There are sheep currently grazing in the valley so I took footage of them using my iPhone adaptor.
I need to master the wobble but the ability to video from distance is great.
