🎥 Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs (1937)
A classic animated Disney movie that has survived the test of time.
The wicked queen becomes jealous of Snow White’s beauty and arranges for her to be killed.
The huntsman can’t do it though and he lets her flee into the woods, where she lives with the seven dwarfs.
The queen herself, disguised as a peddler, goes after her and persuades Snow White to eat a poisoned apple.
She dies, but the spell is broken by the kiss of true love from the prince, and they live happily ever after.
There are some very familiar sayings and songs in the movie: ‘Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?’, ‘Whistle while you work’ and ‘Hi ho, hi ho, it’s off to work we go’.
🎥 The Lion King (1994)
A Disney animated film that tells the story of Simba the lion, from his birth to coronation as king and then, finally, the birth of his own offspring.
His father, Musafa, is killed and Musafa’s wicked brother, Scar, causes young Simba to flee, blaming him for the death, which is a false accusation.
With the heir out of the way, Scar takes over and runs the kingdom very poorly, where famine, conflict and fear reign.
However, helped by his new friends Pumbaa (warthog) and Timon (meerkat), he returns, and after a fight, claims his rightful inheritance.
🎥 The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride (1998)
The story from the first film continues. Simba is the leader of the pride and his daughter, Kiara, falls for Kovu, who is from a banished pride that was associated with Scar.
Kovu’s mother, Zira, seeks to cause trouble but when she falls to her death in a flooded valley, the lions make peace and come together.
🎥 The Lion King 1 1/2 (2004)
A very clever Disney animation, where Timon and Pumbaa are watching The Lion King and they end up using the remote to go back to the beginning when they both met.
They then focus on themselves in what they watch on the screen, as their story is woven into the original movie.
🎥 The Lion King (2019)
A brilliant remake of the 1994 Disney movie, this time it’s with real animals, albeit computer generated ones.
The storyline is the same and the characters identical to the original but you don’t get the feeling that it’s repetitive.
Again, it tells the story of Simba, from birth to king and then the presentation of his own offspring.
