👨‍⚖️ The start to a very interesting day

📹 The start to a very interesting day

I was up early, but not for fishing, as it was reporting-for-jury-service day.

Making my way to the big city, I went on public transport, starting my journey on the local bus, which is very unreliable at the best of times.

Fortunately, it did turn up and I eventually made my way to the crown court.

There were lots of people there and two lots of trial jurors were initially selected.

These were for short trials and in some ways, although I preferred to miss selection totally, I didn’t mind two weeks.

Then they announced the big one, that in angling terms would take me well into the tench season.

We’re talking months, not weeks.

I got called…

We went to the court room, where the judge, prosecutor, defence, defendants and the other courtroom personnel were all there and the main man explained to us what the trial was about etc.

I’m back there tomorrow where the jury will be selected (there were more than required today) and sworn in.

If I’m honest, I hope I don’t get chosen, but if I am I’ll accept it and get on with it.

I’ve mentioned buses already, well on the way back home I managed to get so far home and then walked the couple of miles or so from there.

Storm Henk it is this time, well not only was it windy but it was also very wet.

By the time I reached my front door, I couldn’t have been wetter if someone had thrown a bucket of water on me.

No problem though because I changed and went fishing…
