🎣 Fishing for mini-species with three-spined sticklebacks by design from a brook and talking angling on radio
I did a number of brook sessions in pursuit of three-spined sticklebacks last month and this morning returned for my first visit of February.
It was a very successful one as well, with two 3g specimens on the bank, as well as lots of smaller fish.
Back home and, after getting changed, I did my weekly angling recording for Bayside Radio.
There’s more on that in the video, which is mostly filmed at the water’s edge.
After four blanks it was nice to get back among the fish.
Tackle: Poachers Pocket mini-rod and reel. Reel line was 4lb Maxima Chameleon straight through. A small shot was nipped on the line, six inches from the Drennan Super Specialist size 16 hook. Bait was a single white maggot, which I nipped with scissors.
Nature notes: Very vocal muntjac in wood alongside the brook (not seen, just heard). Song thrush singing.
