🎣 After four sessions on the River Severn, back to small pool fishing
After a tough couple of sessions on the River Severn, it was back to small pool fishing.
The weather forecast was looking grim, with windy, wet and sleety conditions.
It’s a good job I don’t let the forecasts affect whether I go fishing or not because, as I looked out of the window in the morning, it was none of those.
It was cold though. Very cold. Very, very cold, in fact.
Setting up in a banker swim and fishing maggot over brown crumb and red/white maggots, as far as confidence was concerned, it didn’t get any better.
However, four hours after my first cast, I was packing away without even a single bite.
I didn’t see even one small fish show during the session.
It really was hard going.
Never mind though, at least I went fishing and there’s always tomorrow.
Tackle: Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line. Drennan 1.2g float. Drennan Super Specialist size 16 hook.
Nature notes: Kingfisher flew low across the pond. Two ravens calling in flight over woodland beyond the far bank. Cormorant flew overhead.
