🎣 Another session on the Severn and a time-lapse video of the sunset over the river
We had a sharp drop in air temperature overnight, with the weather forecast predicting minus-5C.
By the time I was up at first-light, there was a covering of white everywhere, the car windows were deeply frosted and the ponds in the garden were iced over.
My plan anyway was to go fishing in the afternoon, so the initial adversity wasn’t an issue.
Although it remained cold (a high of 4C), by the time I loaded the car and was on my way, the sun had melted the ice.
Back on the same stretch – and indeed, in the same spot – as the two previous sessions, in well under an hour after leaving home, I was fishing and settling back to watch the rod tip.
I filled the cage feeder with bread mash and alternated between white bread and Red Leicester cheese as bait, with both moulded around the hook.
In 5.5 hours I didn’t even get a tap on the rod tip from a fish.
I did capture timelapse footage of the sunset as it set though beyond the far bank.
Tackle: Fox Barbel Special 1.5 test curve rod and an Okuma Zeon reel. 6lb Maxima Chameleon, with an eight-inch hook-length created by a small shot and an 5mm bead. Drennan 25g cage feeder. Size 6 Drennan Super Specialist hook.
