🎣 Third time lucky pike fishing on the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal
If a lost fish at the net motivates me to ‘right the wrong’ then a blank in the following session gives me even more of a push to get a Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal pike on the bank. Therefore, I went to bed positive and I woke up full of confidence that would be the case.
As you can see in the video, and to paraphrase Larry Grayson, what a grey day it was. Murky, overcast, raining and breezy were all apt descriptions. However, as long as your bait’s in the water, you’ve always got a chance. A great life principle, never mind angling.
Fishing with a herring tail on one rod and a small sprat on the other, it was the former that was picked up by a pike early in the three hours that I fished. It was just a small fish but, most importantly, when you take the two previous sessions into account, I got it in the landing net.
I don’t believe in luck but it was, as they say, a case of third time lucky. Come the final whistle, it was one run and one fish. Just about on the right side of the line but, nevertheless, I was on the right side. Plus, it is a very focused way of fishing. I’ve never had a pike session where I’ve lost count of the numbers caught.
