🌸 Blogging in April 2025

🎣 My first angling session as a 63-year-old was a very good one 🎂 Did I mention it was my birthday 📻 The weekly radio slot

I may have been been a year older – although in reality it was just a day – but on an angling front, I began life as a 63-year-old in exactly the same way that I concluded my time on earth as a 62-year-old.

I went fishing for perch on a pool, using prawn as a bait.

The only difference from the previous session is that, on my birthday, it rained.

I started with a nice perch, which proved to be the only one. I also had tench and bream

For just over two hours fishing, it was very enjoyable indeed.

Tackle: Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line. Waggler float 1g. Drennan Super Specialist size 10 hook.

Nature notes: Calling raven in low overhead flight. Kingfisher perched on overhanging far bank branches. Grey wagtail. Female sparrowhawk in low flight across the pool.

Back home, there’s birthday chat in the video with my wife and then I recorded my weekly slot with Jeff Pearson for his Bayside Radio afternoon show.
