🎣 Fishing with prawn after perch and my last session as a 62-year-old
After a couple of sessions fishing for tench with corn – where I caught lots of roach but no tincas – I fancied a change.
Doing our shopping at Morrisons in Kingswinford, two packets of frozen prawns made their way to the till along with the usual bread, margarine and milk etc.
The following morning – Easter Sunday – I was on the bank at first-light flicking a single prawn three rod-lengths out in water that was a couple of metres deep.
I threw out balls of brown crumb that contained both prawns and mixed maggots.
It was never going to be as hectic as when I fished with corn in the previous two sessions, but as long as I could get a couple of fish, and I needed the landing net, I was going to be happy.
As it happened, I caught three and all of them needed netting.
