Canal fishing on the way to work

Footage from around the session.

Rising naturally at 5.30 a.m., I showered, put on my TNS FC clothes, loaded the car with fishing tackle and set off from the drive at home.

It’s called killing two birds with one stone.

When it’s a non-match day especially, I invariable make the most of going to work by doing some angling in the area as well.

On this occasion it was the Montgomery Canal where I did the latter.

On arrival, I cast out a few times with the plummet to set the depth.

I then nipped on a small shot a few inches from the size 14 Mustad hook, hooked a couple of white maggots and cast out.

Unfortunately, in the couple of hours I was there, apart from leaves, it was the only hooking that I did.

It’s the way it goes sometimes.

Still, after last week’s illness I was just grateful to be out fishing and enjoying the great outdoors.

Then it was off to work with a press conference interview, social media photographs promoting an athlete and a food bank (two separate projects), publishing and sharing a match preview and general other stuff.

  1. Some decent fish there Stewart on a very cold morning. And a cheeky Robin. Makes it all worthwhile.

    1. Taking everything into account, I was quite thrilled.
Robins. The anglers’ friend. Lovely birds.
