A return angling visit to the pond and determined to get back on track
With the memory of the two struggling pond sessions still fresh in my mind, I was determined to put that wrong right, so, with the ice having melted, I returned to the same venue first thing on Sunday morning. The optimism of a rise in air temperature was balanced by the fact that the water was still cold.
Regardless of any other factors though, the bottom line is that, unless your bait’s in the water then you won’t catch anything anyway. I was confident on this occasion and, although small roach, I did end up on the right side of the line. Thankful for small mercies sometimes is a good principle to live by.
On the ornithological front, there were a few grey wagtail sightings, most likely the same bird. A pair of calling ravens flew overhead, early in the session, and there were kingfisher sightings throughout. There were at least two birds as I did see a pair together, in flight across the water.
