🎣 It’s another thin line angling session 🎶Take Two ⚽️ Back on the football pitch and at the age of 63 years and 30 days
🎣 After the tench breakthrough on the lake – albeit with just one fish – I was drawn to a return visit the following morning.
Again, there were no feeding bubbles anywhere, but as long as your bait’s in the water and all that.
My approach was as previously, fishing a grain of sweetcorn over balls of brown crumb and corn at 20-25 metres.
I had to wait until 2.5 hours in before I had my first fish on, which unfortunately I lost in a snag.
Two hours later, that was that. Mind you, the two tinca anglers next to me had also blanked.
I often talk about being just on the right side of the line, in this instance the reverse was also true.
Tackle: Fox Barbel Special 1.5 test curve rod and an Okuma Zeon reel. 6lb Maxima Chameleon, with a six-inch hook-length created by a small shot and an 5mm bead. Above that was a 1/2 ounce bomb. Size 10 Drennan Super Specialist hook.
Nature notes: Swifts (c.10) feeding over the lake. Female mallard with eleven well-developed young. Calling oystercatcher circled the lake twice. Two great crested grebes. Swallow skimming the surface, as it fed.
🎶 The latest album to get an outing on my Spotify account is Take Two.
Released in 1966, it’s a Marvin Gaye and Kim Weston collaboration, and features the Motown classic, It Takes Two.
I’ve never been a massive Marvin Gaye fan and I probably prefer his duet songs, with the likes of Diana Ross, Tammi Terrell and, of course, Kim Weston.
⚽️ It’s been a few weeks, due to injury and holiday, but this evening it was great to get back on track with playing football again.
At the start of the year, I was looking for regular slots, because at that time I just had an occasional Wednesday opportunity.
Now I’ve got two games a week, which is great.
I love putting the boots on and getting involved and, although I am 63, I’m not contemplating veterans’ football. It’s not even on my longer term radar.
Talking of my age, at 63 years and 30 days, I found the back of the net.
The ball came off the bar and I was on hand to smash it home.
We drew, by the way. I always want to win but if you don’t, then not losing is the next best.
