🏡 First garden session for a week 🎶 Car Wash 🎣 Back to coarse fishing, with a couple of still water sessions
🏡 Arriving back home about 10.30 p.m. it was all about unloading the car and sorting things out.
This morning though, after publishing my holiday blog posts, I was in the garden at 9.00 a.m.
Although away for just a week, there was still plenty to do.
Mow the lawns, pick up leaves, tidy the drive and paths, trim low-growing trees in the front, give the thirsty plants some much-needed water and top up the water features. Plus, a basic tidy and clean in the garage.
To do things properly takes time and I spent three hours in all.
Some of the plants look like they have died, due to lack of rainfall, but they are resilient and will often do a Lazarus and bounce back from the dead. We shall see.
🎶 Although I’ve moved on from The Temptations with a change of music in the car, nevertheless there is still a common denominator, as I’m now listening to Rose Royce.
The bridge in question is producer, Norman Whitfield, someone whose music I thoroughly enjoy.
Car Wash was the band’s first release, way back in 1976, which was the soundtrack to the film of the same name.
I loved Rose Royce then and I love them now.
Although I was never into live music that much, nevertheless I did see them in concert, at Birmingham (UK) Odeon.
Car wash, of course, is a well-known song, but my favourite from the album is I Wanna Get Next To You.
It was a departure from the usual female lead vocals of Gwen Dickey, with Kenny Copeland fronting that particular song.
🎣 As you can see from the video, one day I’m wrestling wrasse off the Welsh rocks and the next I’m targeting tench on an English still water.
Fishing a couple of hours up to dark, I was on a lake that has baffled me so far this spring.
Usually, at dawn and dusk anyway, it’s like a jacuzzi, with the tench getting their heads down.
However, on the handful of visits I’ve made so far this year, it’s been totally devoid of feeding tincas.
Although I blanked, I was out and about a few hours later at 4.30 a.m. for a 2.5 hours session.
On a different venue, the tackle and approach was the same, as I fished a grain of sweetcorn over brown crumb and corn at 15-20 yards.
This time I did catch, with a bream and a couple of roach on the bank.
Tackle: Fox Barbel Special 1.5 test curve rod and an Okuma Zeon reel. 6lb Maxima Chameleon, with a six-inch hook-length created by a small shot and an 8mm bead. Above that was a 1/2 ounce bomb. Size 10 Drennan Super Specialist hook.
Nature notes: Two ring-necked parakeet sightings. Female mallard with five ducklings. Two vocal stock doves in the immediate area, saw three individual birds. Kingfisher in flight.
