A promising start on the River Stour, and then The Curse put in an appearance, say no more
With no Ian Clarke to curse me this morning, ‘Bring on the fishes’, I thought to myself, as I walked to the River Stour for an early start.
It was a foggy beginning to the day, and it was only when I left the valley at home, drove along the lane and joined the B road that I had half-decent visibility. By comparison, the water was clear.
Although I did have a number of sucked maggots initially, none of them registered what you would even call a bite. It was a promising start to the session though but then it went dead.
Can you believe it, Ian Clarke himself arrived at the water’s edge, as he was taking his son’s dog for a walk. There might be something in this curse business after all because, in five hours of fishing, I registered a blank.
