Blogging life’s journey: October 2025

Not a good football weekend but at least my Welsh team came through || Slow but not stationary on the Staffs/Worcs Canal with four species of fish on the bank

As I mentioned in my last but one blog post, I haven’t been to a live game of football for ten months. However, I’ve still been keeping an eye on a few results though, as I follow the fortunes of several teams.

On Friday evening, Linfield lost. On Saturday afternoon, Leeds United and Wolves both lost, while Rangers managed just a draw. However, in the Welsh cup, the team from the land of my fathers provided a ray of sunshine in the footballing darkness.

Y Rhyl 1879 beat Brickfield Rangers in round two of the competition. Although just 1-0, a win’s a win, as the Lilywhites progress into the next phase. Llongyfarchiadau, Y Rhyl, Llongyfarchiadau. Congratulations, Rhyl, congratulations. You saved my football weekend.

After yesterday morning’s enjoyable angling session on the Staffs/Worcs Canal, that’s where I started my Sunday, twenty-four hours later. Everything was identical, even down to being in the same swim.

However, what a difference a day makes, as it was a very slow session. Although I caught four species of fish, I only banked five in total. You can follow the session via the video above.
