Blogging life’s journey: November 2025

A late night due to the premium bonds reveal and interrupted sleep courtesy of our dog but I was still on the Staffordshire & Worcester Canal fishing at first-light

I wouldn’t say eagerly awaited, but my wife and I do look forward to the monthly premium bonds reveal, once we’re in the last day or so. The results are declared just after midnight, at the start of the new month, and as we’re usually up and about at that time anyway, we gather around my wife’s phone to see how we have done.

This time, I led the way with 3x £50 wins, while Debby had 2x £25, making a total of £200. As it all goes into our joint account anyway, it doesn’t matter who gets what. It’s the grand total that’s important and, as far as November 2025 is concerned, we’ve had better months but we’ve also had poorer ones.

I was up in the early hours of the morning (3.30 a.m.) to find my wife sponging the duvet and bedsheet. As soon as I woke, I knew what it was. Yes, our dog had been sick on the bed.

Although he’s excellent when it comes to toilet duties, unfortunately his reasoning and reaction to going outside isn’t the same when he’s sick. He just brings everything up there and then, which isn’t ideal when he’s on the bed at home, in the middle of the night.

As per the heading, in spite of the late night and the sleep disruption, I was still awake nice and early, in order to do some perch fishing on the local canal. That’s where the video picks up and, as always, you can follow the session there, where I caught several perch and one bream.

It was wet and breezy at times, but very mild, and the fish were obliging. Certainly early on anyway. The early bird catches the worm and all that. As I so often say, and I do use the phrase in the video in the context of swim selection, ‘It’s not rocket science, it’s watercraft’.
