The importance of charging your body battery, an angling session on the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal and chatting with Luxe Lakes fishery owner, Luke Roper
I do live, relatively speaking, life in the fast lane. That doesn’t mean that I live a wild one, far from it, but rather that I do enjoy a fulfilled life as far as my own time is concerned. Every now again though, it catches up with me and I need to plug my body battery in for a full charge.
Yesterday evening was an example of that. By 6.00 p.m. I was starting to feel tired and, although I didn’t want to go to bed at that time, 2.5 hours later I had to retire. That was it until 5.00 a.m. when I woke naturally, wide-eyed, fired-up and ready to go.
You can never have too much of a good thing, as the saying goes, and that’s certainly true generally speaking, and especially so when it comes to fishing. That’s why, for the fifth morning on the bounce, I was on the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal.
I have alternated stretches though, so there’s still been change. Again, as they say, variety is the spice of life. Which is also true. On a personal level, not that my angling ever feels stale – far from it – but the different places, tactics and species means that the piscatorial pot of enthusiasm continues to bubble nicely.
On this session – which was more than two hours in duration – I caught gudgeon (one), roach (one) and perch (several) and you can follow the action via the video. Nature-wise, a grey wagtail landed briefly on a raft of decaying vegetation in the far bank margins, right in front of me.
It was also great to see Luke Roper again. If you follow my blogs on a regular basis, you’ll be familiar with the Luxe Lakes reference a couple of weeks or so back. Anyway, this time, we had a proper chat and that’s in the video.
