🎣 An early angling start on the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal and the anglers’ best friend
Although we didn’t have an overnight frost – I put the fleece over the car windshield in anticipation – nevertheless it was still a bitterly cold start to the day. In fact, it remained so right through till dusk, courtesy of the wind.
I fancied an angling session on the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal. Although I do find it very hard going on there in the winter, I went with my desire, rather than fish somewhere else where I might have a better chance of catching.
Presenting two maggots on a size 16 hook, I fished towards the far side of the boat channel over loose maggots and a small amount of brown crumb, to try and stimulate the fish.
In three hours, I didn’t even get any movement on the float at all. However, I’ve had a good run in terms of avoiding a blank. Thirteen trips to be exact. I still recorded a video, which not only shows the swim but also footage of the anglers’ best friend. The robin.
