🎣 After my wife operated on me, I went fishing on the River Severn
Getting my angling year underway was slightly delayed because, as I pulled my fleece over my arm, I felt a sharp pain. Somehow, a hook was trapped inside the sleeve and it had become embedded in my flesh.
We got it out in the end, as you can see in the video. It must be an old hook as well, because I haven’t used barbed for a while. All the Drennan Super Specialist in my hook wallet are micro barbed.
Once at the water’s edge (the middle Severn), I chose a swim that you can also see in the video. That’s the great thing about combining text and footage. The latter takes over when the former has reached the limit of its effectiveness.
You could write an essay trying to describe what the swim looks like. Or, alternatively, you can record a few seconds of footage and the communication is much more effective.
I also show the rig and bait approach in the video, the only major thing I didn’t mention is that the line is 6 lb Maxima Chameleon.
On the way to the car parking area, I saw a common buzzard with a dead wood pigeon in its talons being harassed by a second buzzard. After dropping the prey, the bird flew off and the aggressor picked it up and landed on a fallen branch to eat it.
All this happened just yards from where I was and I stopped the car to watch everything unfold. While fishing, a little egret made its way downstream. There were several kingfisher sightings, including two birds in flight.
