🎣 The value of thinking outside the box when it comes to short angling sessions, perch on the bank this morning and my final radio recording of the month
There’s more in the video, but the gist of the message is just because you don’t have a lot of time, it doesn’t mean that you can’t go angling.
I was fishing at 7.00 a.m. this morning. The days are definitely getting longer, which is great news.
We had heavy rain yesterday and through the night and, with a brook flowing into the small pool, it was heavily coloured.
Although I was there for just an hour, I still caught.
Nothing big, just small perch, but I enjoyed being out and about and that’s what counts. Isn’t it?
We’re into the last few days of February now.
Spring is just around the corner and I saw my first common frog of the year, making its way across one of the lanes in the area where I live, as I drove to the pool.
There wasn’t a squashed body on the way back so I’m happy to say that the frog made it.
Today was my final angling radio recording of the month and there’s also some of that in the video.

Tackle: Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line. Drennan 1.2g float. Drennan Super Specialist size 14 hook.
I fished a couple of rod-lengths out, in six feet of water, over loose red/white maggots, with two red maggots on the hook, just off a sharp drop-off.
Nature notes: First common frog of the year, making its way across a road as I drove to the pool. Two cormorants overhead, while fishing. At least three stock doves in the immediate area. Two sightings of a single ring-necked parakeet, very noisy.
