🎣 Very windy, very mild and wet with brook sticklebacks on the agenda
There’s been a huge swing in air temperature this week, from sub-zero just four days ago to 12C at first-light this morning.
With just over three weeks of the flowing water season remaining, I want to make the most of the time available, and so I set off for a small brook in pursuit of three-spined sticklebacks.
Just a short session of less than an hour, the fish were very obliging indeed, with the best one registering 3.3g on the scales.

Tackle: Poachers Pocket mini-rod and reel. Reel line was 4lb Maxima Chameleon straight through. A small shot was nipped on the line, four inches from the Drennan Super Specialist size 16 hook. Bait was a single red maggot, which I nipped with scissors.
Nature notes: Several song thrushes singing, one of which is captured in the video.
