🎣 Ahead of stormy weather, more pike fishing and all’s well that ends well
With gusts of 40-50 mph winds forecast, I was able to go fishing for a couple of hours prior to the weather turning.
Not that it would have mattered anyway but, if you can choose, why make it hard for yourself.
I thoroughly enjoyed the short session, with my recently purchased sardines doing the business.
I’ve said it many times before, and will continue to do so again in the future, that you can’t beat watching a pike float in the water.
Even more so when it comes to life.

All’s well that ends well?
Right at the end of the session, I lost a float in a submerged tree just off the bank.
I tried to retrieve it but in the process I lost the other float.
Trying to retrieve both with my landing net, I lost one of the arms in the water.
All this happened as I perched on a branch overhanging the pool.
In the end I got both floats and the landing net arm back.
So, all’s well that ends well.
Tackle: Wychwood Extremis 3lb pike rod/Wychwood Extremis 50 reel and Shakespeare 3lb rod/Regal X 4050BRT reel. 16lb Sufix Synergy line. Greys Prowla 30g and Drennan Zeppler 35g floats. Size 4 hooks.
Nature notes: Song thrush singing in far bank trees. Two Canada geese grazing alongside the pool on arrival, they flew away rather than drop on the water.
