🎣 Earning brownie points with my wife and then going fishing
The blog post – and the video – begins in the kitchen, where I’m washing and drying plates and cutlery.
Actually, I don’t need to earn any brownie points, as my wife lets me go fishing anyway. It’s never been an issue between us.
It makes for interesting and different footage though.
The following morning, I was out on a pool.
Although I was scraping ice from the car before I could leave the drive, it’s just a temporary setback as we are definitely on an upward curve now.
I caught perch and just one roach. All small but a very enjoyable couple of hours.

Tackle: Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line. Drennan 1.2g float. Drennan Super Specialist size 16 hook.
I fished a couple of rod-lengths out, in six feet of water, over loose red/white maggots, with two red maggots on the hook.
Nature notes: Two song thrushes chasing each other, as the breeding season enters its early stage. Third bird singing in far bank trees. Three noisy grey herons flew low across the pool as I arrived. Two seen, again low and noisy, as I left.
