💷 Premium bonds | The monthly draw has been made 🎣 Fishing | An early start on the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal 🚿 DIY | The first shower has been taken
Both my wife and I have premium bonds and, although we don’t count the days down, nevertheless, when the appointed time arrives we do check the draw with interest.
On this occasion, we both had £50, courtesy of 2x £25 for Debby and 1x £50 for me. As it goes into a joint bank account anyway, it doesn’t matter who wins what.
I’d be happy to never get another penny, if Debby won the £1 million prize every month. Two extreme scenarios, of course, but you get where I’m coming from.
The premium bonds results are revealed just after midnight and, 3.75 hours later, I was up to go fishing. I don’t mind getting out of bed at silly o’clock, after all it’s to pursue my passion, not go to work.
I got my summer campaign off to a good start on a pool yesterday, while today it was canal fishing that took my fancy. That’s exactly how I plan my sessions, it’s all about what I want to do on the next trip.
If I’m enjoying a certain venue, I’ll keep going until I want a change. I find that variety in terms of where you fish, species you target and methods you use keeps the pot of enthusiasm bubbling nicely.
Not that I am in danger of losing my passion. Far from it. Someone asked me recently, in a YouTube comment, why I hadn’t fished a particular lake. ‘Have you lost your mojo for that water?’, he enquired.
The answer was essentially that, no, I hadn’t. Although I do fish every day, I still can’t get round to everything that I want to have a go at. My ‘problem’ is not so much where do I go, but rather, which venues do I eliminate.
You can follow today’s session, on the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal, via the video. I caught bream, perch and roach.
Following on from the completion (hopefully) of the shower unit leak yesterday, today I took my first shower for about two weeks.
It’s early days yet but the downstairs ceiling is not showing any signs of a leak. Therefore, so far, so good. However, I’m going to give it a week before declaring the all clear.
At least it’s a good sign though. I like to do what I can (or in this case what my wife did) before we bring in expensive tradesmen. Visit the home page.
