Tracking deer in the valley

Tracking deer in the valley.

I went for a walk in the local woodland late afternoon and was met with an impassable lane in front of me.

Before the road was constructed, springs from the western slope flowed naturally into the main brook.

They still flow but when there’s been heavy rain, the extra water floods the road.

I just entered the woodland at a different point, as I headed towards the barking muntjac I had picked up on.

The noises were regular and I soon tracked the deer down.

In fact, there were two of them, a male and a female that had no doubt come together to mate.

I had extensive and excellent views of the creatures.
