Perch, roach and rudd from a shallow pond
The water temperature is still holding up well and I’m making the most of that by continuing to fish small, shallow ponds.
Fishing with a small waggler and a couple of white maggots, I caught the usual tiny roach with bonus small rudd as well.
Then, I struck into something much bigger, relatively speaking, and banked the perch that you can see in the video above.
Right at the very end of the three-hour session, I noticed a predator attacking small roach underneath an overhanging tree.
It was a perch but I couldn’t see how big.
Anyway, I lip-hooked a tiny roach on to a size 4 hook, cast to the spot and immediately had a take.

Improvisation. It’s the way to go sometimes.
And, as I’ve said on so many occasions of late, I was absolutely thrilled with the fish due to the size of the venue.
