Making a mental note and a pike on the bank
The video outlines why I was on this particular venue and I’m happy to say that the plan worked.
Nice when that happens, isn’t it?
The water was only a couple of feet deep, so not expecting big pike, but nevertheless it does show that shallow swims are always worth a go.
I’ll show my pike set-up in a future video but for now, I’m fishing with a float, a lead to keep the bait down and a single size 4 treble hook.
On this occasion, I fished with a small roach.
I also had a pick-up earlier in the session and when it went quiet, I reeled in to find that the gudgeon had disappeared.
That’s always the potential issue with a single hook but it’s much kinder for the pike.
