💰 Premium bonds reveal 🎣 A return to the pool with a different approach 🗳️ The election results are coming in
💰 I was up and about at midnight anyway, and before I eventually went to bed, my wife and I checked the monthly premium bonds reveal.
Having ‘splashed the cash’ on a few extras recently, I was hoping that we would be happy with the verdict.
As it happened, we were, and between us we ‘won’ £450.
Usually I get the bulk of the winnings, but this time I had 1x £100 and 1x £25, while my wife had 3x £100 and 1x £25.
We’ve always had a joint account anyway, so it all goes in the same financial pot.
🎣 Four hours later, I was awake, making a flask of tea, loading the car and on my way to a pool.
It was same one as the last session, where I lost fish.
From tackle to bait, everything was different this time round, even to the spot I fished.
I flicked the lead half a dozen lengths out in two metres of water and presented a grain of sweetcorn over corn and brown crumb.
I lost a fish, upped the hook size and had lots of small roach action.
Then, right at the very end, I caught a small tench.
Tackle: Fox Barbel Special 1.5 test curve rod and an Okuma Zeon reel. 6lb Maxima Chameleon, with a six-inch hook-length created by a small shot and an 8mm bead. Above that was a 1/2 ounce lead. Size 10 Drennan Super Specialist hook.
Nature notes: Several sightings of a kingfisher. Raven calling in flight. Ring-necked parakeet in flight. Common buzzard mobbed by several carrion crows.
🗳️ It was a big night, as far as politics was concerned, with hundreds of council seats up for grabs, several mayoral elections and, of course, the real biggie.
The Runcorn and Helsby by-election.
What a tremendous win that was for Reform UK.
As far as the emerging (as I write) council seats start to come through, they’re doing very well there as well.
At the time of writing, they’re still leading the way and have more seats than Conservatives, Greens, independents, Labour and Lib Dems put together.
For as long as I can remember, even though people have complained about the big two, they’ve always added, ‘what’s the point of voting for someone else as they’ll never get in anyway’.
That is no longer the case.
