🌸 Blogging in May 2025

🎣 The ones that got away and the ones that didn’t 🎶 Maybe Tomorrow

🎣 Hello, May 2025 and, starting how I mean to carry on, I was sitting next to a pool as the day was just beginning to break.

Whatever we do, we all like to hit the ground running, don’t we?

That’s certainly the case when it comes to my fishing but, on this occasion, it was a case of losing the first three fish.

They were all good ones as well, the hook pulled on the first and the others broke me.

I suspect large tench or small carp, either way I will be returning with stronger gear, so watch this space on that.

As far as the rest of the session was concerned, I caught a nice roach, which equals my personal best for the year.

That was followed by a tench. Then I lost a small tench, as the hook parted company with the fish.

Not my day but could have been worse.

I fished with prawn, in a couple of metres of water, 2-3 lengths from the bank, over red maggots/prawns/brown crumb.

Tackle: Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line. Waggler float 1g. Drennan Super Specialist size 10 hook.

Nature notes: Noisy ring-necked parakeets in the area at first-light. Saw two, could have been more. A pair of calling ravens in low flight over the field behind the swim. A single bird, also calling in flight.

🎶 After several plays of The Miracles’ Do it Baby album in the car, I stayed with Motown (no surprise there) for my next offering, but switched to the Jackson 5.

The album, Maybe Tomorrow, was released in 1971 and features the popular track, Never Can Say Goodbye.

It was the fifth studio album from the Jackson family, with Michael just four months away from being a teenager.
